Why Third 'Bridget Jones' Film Is in Limbo UPDATED

UPDATE: Even though Helen Fielding's third book in the Bridget Jones trilogy, "Mad About the Boy," has seen huge first-day sales in the UK (and went on sale stateside October 15), neither Universal nor Working Title have snapped up film rights. (Working Title released the first "Bridget Jones" movie, and Universal the sequel, both worldwide hits.)

Darren Aronofsky Grappling with Studio Is a Familiar Pattern

Darren Aronofsky and Paramount are reportedly fighting over biblical epic "Noah," set to hit theaters March 28, after numerous test screenings have produced "worrisome" results. These screenings have been aimed at specific audiences: one in New York was shown to a largely Jewish audience, one in Arizona to a Christian audience, and one in Orange County to the general public. Let's remember that indie-minded Aronofsky is adopting his own graphic novel--albeit at a $125 million studio level--and has never been one to toe the line on anything he's made.

Paul Feig is one cool guy. The director of hits "The Heat" and "Bridesmaids" recently spoke with Cinema Blend, revealing that he's working on a gay romantic comedy with Channing Tatum attached to star. UPDATE: Not so fast, counters Vulture. Tatum was just pie-in-the-sky casting.

Aussie director Garth Davis impressively held his own alongside auteur Jane Campion in five-part mini-series "Top of the Lake," which scored them both 2013 Emmy nominations for directing. Now Davis is in talks with Warner Bros. to direct his first feature, "Shantaram," with Joel Edgerton attached to star.
