Several Telluride titles are debuting in Venice, from John Hillcoat's The Road (which has a new poster and clips online) to Todd Solondz's Life During Wartime and Werner Herzog's Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans, starring Nic Cage.

At a Venice press conference, Herzog denied ever having seen the Abel Ferrara NC-17 1992 original, and wants to show him his post-Katrina "warped fairy tale" (as described by co-star Eva Mendes). At Telluride, Life During Wartime screens Saturday, and Bad Lieutenant on Sunday.
