Filming has kicked off on World War I drama "Testament of Youth," starring Kit Harington ("Pompeii," "Game of Thrones") and Alicia Vikander ("A Royal Affair"). Helmed by Brit TV director James Kent, the film tells the true story of Vera Brittain, who delayed her studies at Oxford to be a nurse during the war; she then had to keep her life together after both her fiancé and brother were killed in battle.
Vikander plays Brittain and Harington her fiancé, Roland Leighton.
The project, backed by BBC Films, comes at an appropriate moment: 2014 is the centennial of the beginning of World War I. David Heyman ("Gravity") is producing; the film is shooting on location in Yorkshire, Oxford and London.
