'All is Lost'
J. C. Chandor, who won the Indie Spirit Award for Best First Feature for Lionsgate/Roadside's "Margin Call," has wrapped principal photography on his sophomore feature, "All is Lost." The film stars Robert Redford as a man lost at sea who battles the elements to stay alive. Chandor also penned the screenplay, as he did for Oscar-nominated "Margin Call."

Produced by Before The Door Pictures' Neal Dodson ("Margin Call") and Washington Ququare Films' Anna Gerb, the movie conjures up Ernest Hemingway's "The Old Man and the Sea," Robert Zemeckis' "Cast Away" and Ang Lee's upcoming adaptation of "Life of Pi," all of which feature solo men fighting against the elements. The subject matter couldn't be a further departure from Wall Street interior office drama "Margin Call."

It wasn't an easy shoot in the water tank at Rosarito, Mexico, where James Cameron filmed "Titanic." Water movies never are. "After an intense two month of shooting on the water, we're headed home," said the producers, adding that Chandor is "making an audacious film with a brave performance at its center."

FilmNation sold foreign rights; Lionsgate has picked up stateside theatrical rights.
