First Trailer for Craig Zobel's 'Compliance,' Based on Twisted True Story of McDonald's Assault

Check out the trailer for Craig Zobel's "Compliance," based on the true story (featured in the video below) about the disturbing turn of events at a fast-food restaurant that proved just how stupid and gullible people can be in response to so-called-authority (and how much damage that stupidity can cause). The film debuted at Sundance and has accumulated an impressive 100% on the Tomatometer. THR says it is "Likely to spur discussions about workplace safety, employee rights and broader awareness of sexual predation, Compliance is also a suspenseful psychological drama for viewers prepared to tolerate its extremes."

The synopsis: Becky and Sandra aren’t the best of friends. Sandra is a middle-aged manager at a fast-food restaurant; Becky is a teenaged counter girl who really needs the job. One stressful day (too many customers and too little bacon), a police officer calls, accusing Becky of stealing money from a customer’s purse, which she vehemently denies. Sandra, overwhelmed by her managerial responsibilities, complies with the officer’s orders to detain Becky. This choice begins a nightmare that tragically blurs the lines between expedience and prudence, legality and reason.

    I think it's pretty disgusting that they would make a movie out of this. That poor girl went through a horrible situation and I think it's deplorable for someone to take that situation and turn it into some kind of moneymaker. I will not be seeing this film, and I hope other people agree with me.

    It's just another way to spread information. By your logic, no one should have watched the Titanic... or Flight 93... or any other true disaster movie.
