Dennis Lehane, Neil Burger
Neil Burger will direct an adaptation of Dennis Lehane's short story "Animal Rescue" for Fox Searchlight and Chernin Entertertainment after his surprisingly successful "Limitless" starring Bradley Cooper.

Lehane, who wrote the books that would become "Mystic River," "Gone Baby Gone" and "Shutter Island," also penned this adaptation. According to Variety, the story "follows a man trying to leave a life of crime, a pit bull, a heist gone wrong, and a killing."

Searchlight-produced titles include "Juno," "Black Swan," "The Descendants" and surprise hit "The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel" and critically cornered "Lola Versus." Next up: the long-awaited return of "Little Miss Sunshine" duo Valerie Ferris and Jonathan Dayton, "Ruby Sparks."
