Here Are the 58 Short Films Playing the 2014 Tribeca Film Festival

The 2014 Tribeca Film Festival has revealed its lineup of 58 short films set to play the fest, 29 of which are world premieres. The selections were curated from 3,074 submissions, and include shorts from 16 countries, including Australia, Austria, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Iceland, India, Iraq, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Scotland, Switzerland and the UK.

Holocaust Survivor and Subject of Oscar Nominated Short Doc Alice Herz-Sommer Has Died at 110

Sadly, 110-year-old Alice Herz-Sommer, subject of the Oscar nominated short documentary "The Lady in Number 6: Music Saved My Life" died on the morning of February 23, just a week before the film about her extraordinary life heads to the Academy Awards. Herz-Sommer was the oldest living Holocaust survivor.

Talking with the Oscar Nominees for Animated Short Film

I recently chatted with the Oscar nominees for "Feral" (Daniel Sousa), the Annie-winning "Get a Horse!" (Lauren MacMullan), "Mr. Hublot" (Laurent Witz), "Possessions" (Shuhei Morita), and "Room on the Broom" (Max Lang). We discussed personal connections and challenges. Interestingly, all five of the films explore the theme of adjusting to change in our lives.

Here's a nifty thing. Oscar-winning cinematographer Janusz Kaminski directed 11 very short films for the New York Times Magazine, and the Times has a released a behind-the-scenes video of Kaminski directing the likes of Cate Blanchett, Robert Redford, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Oprah Winfrey, Adele Exarchopoulos, Forest Whitaker, Oscar Isaac, Greta Gerwig, Michael B. Jordan and Julia Louis-Dreyfus for the projects. Check it out, below.
