Hugh Jackman To Present At Academy Awards; Hosts Hathaway and Franco Tease With Video Promo

For those who wish that Hugh Jackman was returning to host the Oscars, well, he's the first confirmed presenter for the Academy Awards on February 27. This year's hosting chores will be handled by two young actors, Oscar nominee James Franco (127 Hours) and Anne Hathaway, who did a memorable turn on the Oscar stage with Jackman. Hathaway and Franco's first Oscar promo is below.

The Prestige, X-Men and The Fountain star next graces the big screen with Shawn Levy's futuristic boxing drama Real Steel (Disney/DreamWorks, October 7) and is starting the latest The Wolverine at Fox with director Darren Aronofsky. Here's a peak at Real Steel:

Thompson on Hollywood

Born and raised in Manhattan, Anne Thompson grew up going to the Thalia and The New Yorker and wound up at grad Cinema Studies at NYU. She worked at United Artists and Film Comment before heading west as that magazine's west coast editor. She wrote for the LA Weekly, Sight and Sound, Empire, The New York Times and Entertainment Weekly before serving as West Coast Editor of Premiere. She wrote for The Washington Post, The London Observer, Wired, More, and Vanity Fair, and did staff stints at The Hollywood Reporter and Variety. She eventually took her blog Thompson on Hollywood to Indiewire. She taught film criticism at USC Critical Studies, and continues to host the fall semester of “Sneak Previews” for UCLA Extension.
