Warner Bros. has released its WonderCon footage of "Pacific Rim" (July 12), the most extensive glimpse yet of Guillermo del Toro’s summer tentpole and likely VFX Oscar contender.

But ILM takes hard surface rendering and robotic performance to a whole new level of precision and complexity, while the aliens out alien any previous reptilian/dino creatures. Del Toro admitted to me that he learned a lot about directing animated performance from his DreamWorks stint advising on "Rise of the Guardians."
