Salinger and Rakoff
Much as "My Week with Marilyn"is based on a production assistant's memoir about having an affair with the iconic actress on the set of "The Prince and the Showgirl," Joanna Smith Rakoff's upcoming Knopff novel "My Salinger Year" is about her college-age dealings with J.D. Salinger while working at the agency that represented him.  The two developed a bizarre relationship, as Rakoff helped the reclusive novelist to guard his privacy in the face of a demanding fan-base.

Bill Pohlad's River Road Entertainment has optioned the screen rights. reports Deadline. Emma Forrest, the daughter of TV writer Judy Raines, will write the script. Forrest recently adapted her memoir "Your Voice in My Head" for an in-the-works Warners film that has Emma Watson and Stanley Tucci attached.

At least maybe now they'll publish a 2nd edition of the novel, since it seems to be impossible to find even in the age of Amazon and Kindle and used books galore!
