Surprise! Harvey Weinstein is partnering with "Salinger" director Shane Salerno to develop a feature narrative film adaptation of his documentary, which hit theaters September 6.
Salerno will pen the screenplay. The film will center on author J.D. Salinger's life between WWII and the 1951 publication of "The Catcher in the Rye," and will reportedly delve into the effects war has on an artist.
"Salinger" the documentary, which plays up a sort of thriller-esque intrigue in its trailer, has already grossed an impressive $162K. It was also announced today by TWC that the version of the doc set to expand beyond LA and New York this coming weekend will include even more never-before-seen material about the reclusive author. Our TOH! review of the film is here.
