James McAvoy is replacing Joel Edgerton (who was attached in February) to star with Jessica Chastain in the double-feature film project, "The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby: Him" and "The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby: Her."

Ned Benson ("In Defiance of Gravity") wrote the two scripts and will direct both films.  Although the two films will stand on their own, they explore the two halves of a whole story, from His and Her perspectives. McAvoy will play a restaurant owner whose marriage begins to struggle as his wife returns to college, resulting in a shattering emotional rift that divides them. We last saw the "Atonement" Golden Globe nominee in "X-Men: First Class." Chastain was nominated for an Academy Award for 2011's "The Help" after a busy breakout year; her schedule is now so busy that she had to turn down a leading role in "Iron Man 3."

Myriad Pictures is pre-selling the title in Cannes this week, where the concept piece intrigued buyers at the European Film Market.
