Melissa McCarthy is set to direct herself in "Tammy" alongside her husband and co-writer Ben Falcone. The comedy centers on a woman who, after losing her job and realizes her husband is a cheater, hits the road with her fouled-mouthed grandmother.

The project previously attempted to get Beth McCarthy-Miller or Rob Reiner to direct, but scheduling and dealmaking proved problematic. Rather than delay the project for white hot comedienne McCarthy--who stars in the upcoming "Identity Thief" (trailer below), they are putting it in her hands.
