It follows the early women's suffrage movement in Britain, and the foot soldiers who were forced underground as a result. Filming kicks off February 24 in the UK.

Aside from Streep and Mulligan, it's got an impressive supporting cast, including Helena Bonham-Carter and Romola Garai ("The Hour").

Streep is currently up for her 18th Oscar nomination for "August: Osage County." She won the Academy Award for "Iron Lady" in 2012, her third win. Streep's career is examined in depth in former LA Weekly critic Karina Longworth's new book in the "Anatomy of an Actor" series.
