New indie biobic "Saving Lincoln" (February 2013) is breaking new ground not for its presidential subject matter, but its innovative visuals and transmedia storytelling. The filmmakers released a sneak peak "motion poster" on Election Day and in December, launched a P & A funding campaign to support the release of "Saving Lincoln" on Lincoln's birthday. The trailer is now available below.

The film will be released President's Day weekend (February 15) at the Quad Cinemas in New York City, as well as in Washington D.C., Los Angeles, and Chicago. It will also screen February 11 at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum in Springfield, IL, as part of the annual Abraham Lincoln Association Symposium.

Filmed entirely on a green screen stage with a digital backdrop created with actual historic photographs from the period, "Saving Lincoln" explores the 16th President from the perspective of his colorful Southern friend and bodyguard, US Marshal Ward Hill Lamon, who saved Abraham Lincoln from multiple assassination attempts, beginning shortly after he was elected in 1860.

Director Salvador Litvak created virtual sets and locations out of actual Civil War era photographs, using a process he calls CineCollage. "The vintage photos are not just backgrounds in 'Saving Lincoln,'" says Litvak. "They are 3-D environments that inform Lamon's tale as much as house it."

"Saving Lincoln" stars Tom Amandes ("Everwood"), Lea Coco ("J. Edgar"), Penelope Ann Miller ("The Artist"), Bruce Davison ("X-Men"), Saidah Arrika Ekulona ("The Royal Tenenbaums") and Creed Bratton ("The Office").

Litvak has grown a following for "Saving Lincoln" on Facebook and Twitter through the course of its production and visual effects post-production. Audiences have engaged with Marshal Lamon's stories about Lincoln and Litvak's historical and photographic research.
