American Express's My Movie Pitch presented its first contest winner's short film at the Tribeca Film Festival on April 23. John Nash's pitch idea (chosen from over 2,000 entries) was adapted into a screenplay and short film -- Mr. Stash -- directed by Jac Schaeffer and starring Amy Smart and Rich Sommer.

My Movie Pitch will continue with a second contest, again promoting a storyteller's unique movie idea into an indie short to premiere at Tribeca 2012.

Nash says:

"Winning the My Movie Pitch contest was one of the best things that has ever happened to me. It's difficult to express how great the experience was as a whole, but I am so thankful for the film cast and crew and everyone at American Express and the Tribeca Film Festival who has helped bring Mr. Stache to life.”

Here's more on year two of the competition:

In 2011, My Movie Pitch will introduce new and unique elements, including an “inspiration generator” which aims to assist contestants in the ideation process, as well as the “:60 Film School,” which features Tribeca Film directors who provide visitors with a crash course in storytelling. The Film School will also share the Tribeca Film directors personal tools and tips on the art of pitching via one-minute long instructional videos, all which will be available atwww.amexfilm.com.

New prizes for this year’s contestants includes a Filmmaker or Film-lover prize package for the top 10 finalists who will get to choose from an HD camera and home editing suite or the ultimate home theater setup. Additionally, the top 100 pitches will each receive a $50 American Express Gift Card.

An esteemed panel of Tribeca Film Directors including Philip Gelatt (The Bleeding House), Massy Tadjedin (Last Night), and David M. Rosenthal (Janie Jones) will select the Grand Prize Winner, who, like Nash, will have his or her pitch made into a short film by a Tribeca Film Director. The winner will receive a trip for two to New York City and VIP access to see the short film debut at the 2012 Tribeca Film Festival.

“My Movie Pitch was such a great experience for American Express, our Cardmembers and the film industry this past year, that we are proud to bring it back for a second year,” said Jessica Igoe, Vice President of Global Sponsorship Marketing, American Express. “Our community is really passionate about independent film and this is really a unique way to connect them closer to art of storytelling through film.”
