Watts in 'The Impossible'

The Palm Springs International Film Festival (January 3-14) will honor Naomi Watts with the Desert Palm Achievement Actress Award on January 5. Watts has a history with the fest, which previously honored her Oscar-nominated performance in "21 Grams" in 2003.

Like the contemporaneous Santa Barbara fest tribute, the Palm Springs honor can serve as an Oscar push for a likely contender (in this case, Watts has received plenty of Best Actress buzz for her role in the tsunami-disaster film "The Impossible"). Past recipients of the Desert Palm include Halle Berry, Marion Cotillard, Anne Hathaway, Natalie Portman, Charlize Theron, Michelle Williams and Kate Winslet.

Check out our TOH! interview with Watts here.
