Olivia Wilde and Mark Duplass are signed on to star in medical thriller "Reawakening," with David Gelb ("Jiro Dreams of Sushi") directing and Jason Blum producing. The Frankenstein-esque story centers on a team of research students who unlock the secret to bringing subjects back from the dead, but with malevolent consequences.
Luke Dawson and Jeremy Slater are writing the script for the Lionsgate project.
Wilde has Joe Swanberg's sexy comedy "Drinking Buddies" in the pipeline for this summer, with Ron Howard's Formula 1 adrenaline-pumper "Rush" and Paul Haggis' "Third Person" coming out later this year. Duplass has Peter Landesman's drama "Parkland" and husband-and-wife comedic team Ben Falcone and Melissa McCarthy's "Tammy" in the works. He will also play one of four leads in his and brother Jay's HBO single-camera comedy pilot "Togetherness," while juggling an ongoing starring role on FX's "The League," and a recurring role on Fox's "The Mindy Project." (Meanwhile, Duplass' wife Katie Aselton has feminist survival thriller "Black Rock" hitting theaters this week; our TOH! interview is here.)
The "Frankenstein" storyline is having a bit of a renaissance, with Daniel Radcliffe currently cast as Igor in Fox's new version of the classic tale.
