The Orange British Academy Film Awards can be influential on Academy voters. Thursday, BAFTA released their long list of 15 in each category (on the jump).

You see the usual suspects, from dominant An Education (listed in 17 categories) to Quentin Tarantino's Inglourious Basterds (with 15), but District 9, Moon, Bright Star and A Serious Man get much-needed boosts, and it's great to see some BAFTA attention for Tom Hooper's football/soccer film The Damned United, written by Peter Morgan and starring Michael Sheen, which was overlooked by moviegoers when Sony Pictures Classics released it here. And BAFTA includes Star Trek in their top 15.

Round Two of the BAFTA voting by 6000 members starts today. The nominations will be announced on January 21, and the winners will be announced at the Royal Opera House one month later, February 21.
