The Academy has changed its Oscar nominations voting to a system that will yield between five and ten best picture candidates, depending on how many number one votes are tabulated for any given film (5% are required). The PGA followed the Academy's lead when it expanded from five to ten nominees; clearly this was a popular movie among its members. The PGA nominations and wins often reflect Academy sentiment, but could be less of a bellwether now. Winners tend to hew close to the Oscars: The Hurt Locker and The King's Speech both won the top prize at the PGA and the Oscars.
