'Transformers: Age of Extinction' Review Roundup: A Visually Impressive, Scattered Destruction Fest (VIDEO)

"Transformers: Smash-a-thon 4000"--sorry, that should be "Transformers: Age of Extinction" comes out this Friday in the U.S. The critical consensus: despite some impressive 3D eye candy, this fourth installment in the franchise, weighing in at a whopping 165 minutes, lags under it's own weight and doesn't make much sense in the end.

French Animated Pic 'Jack and the Cuckoo-Clock Heart' to Get North American English-Language Release

When it comes to animated films, most people here in the U.S. think of the big names: Pixar, Disney, DreamWorks, Blue Sky, perhaps Japan's Studio Ghibli. The great films being made abroad either don't come to the states, or they don't get much play because they're not in English.

American audiences know HBO for its premium programming: TV shows like "Game of Thrones," "Girls," "Veep" and films like "The Normal Heart." What they probably don't know is that HBO produces original content abroad--original content, its worth noting, in languages other than English.

IN THE WORKS: Fernando Meirelles To Direct Aristotle Onassis Biopic 'Nemesis'

Brazilian director Fernando Meirelles ("City of God," "The Constant Gardener") will start production on his new film in Croatia in October. "Nemesis" is a biopic of Greek tycoon Aristotle Onassis, the second husband of Jackie Kennedy. Casting is underway, though no names have been attached yet.
