Expect an L.A. Alamo Drafthouse in 18 Months

Los Angeles moviegoers, take note! The Alamo Drafthouse has signed a letter of intent to open an eight-screen theater in downtown L.A. Reportedly the location being scoped is near the corner of 4th and Main Street in the city's Historic Core.

Griffith Park, Point Dume State Beach and Downtown L.A.'s 6th Street Bridge Rank as Most Popular 2012 Filming Locations

L.A.'s Griffith Park was the most popular filming location in 2012, according to the Los Angeles Times.The canyon area logged 409 production days last year, which is 63 days more than its top-ranking previous year. Gritty TV dramas like "Southland" and "Sons of Anarchy" frequent the 4120-acre Los Feliz park for filming.

Stanley Kubrick Retrospective and Exhibition Comes to LA; Vote in Our Kubrick Poll

LACMA and The Academy will co-present the first US retrospective exhibition of Stanley Kubrick. The retrospective, which launched in Frankfurt and has toured Berlin, Melbourne, Ghent, Zurich, Rome, Paris, and Amsterdam, was developed in collaboration with the Kubrick Estate and the Deutsches Filmmuseum, Frankfurt, but will be designed specifically for LACMA by film production designer Patti Podesta.

Los Angeles Film Fest Announces Panels & Conversations, Keynote Speaker Chris McGurk

The Los Angeles Film Festival (June 14-24), which will open with Woody Allen's "To Rome with Love" and close with Steven Soderbergh's "Magic Mike," has booked Cinedigm's Chairman and CEO Chris McGurk as its keynote speaker. The LAFF also reveals its schedule of Coffee Talks, Poolside Rants, Spotlight on the Craft, panels and conversations.
