Oscar Watch: Nominations LiveStream and Ten Episode Best Picture Preview

Early risers (5:30am PT) on January 25 can watch a live stream of the 83rd Annual Academy Awards nominations announcement. The "Road to the Oscars" package features The Bachelor host Chris Harrison and EW's Dave Karger introing brief clips celebrating 2010 films and a discussion of the year's trends. The nominations will be announced at 5:38 am by Academy president Tom Sherak and Mo'Nique, winner of last year's best supporting actress Oscar for Precious.

The "Road to the Oscars" package features The Bachelor host Chris Harrison and EW's Dave Karger introing brief clips celebrating 2010 films and a discussion of the year's trends. The nominations will be announced at 5:38 am by Academy president Tom Sherak and Mo'Nique, winner of last year's best supporting actress Oscar for Precious.

The nominations to be announced include: Leading Actor, Leading Actress, Supporting Actor, Supporting Actress, Animated Feature Film, Directing, Foreign Language Film, Adapted Screenplay, Original Screenplay and Best Picture.

Following the announcement, Harrison and Karger will comment on the nominees. In February, Oscar.com will exclusively showcase a "Road to the Oscars" series of ten episodes, hosted by Harrison and featuring Karger's insights on each of the ten films nominated for Best Picture.

The nominations edition of "Road to the Oscars" is exclusively online (sites listed below) and on mobile devices, though the nomination announcement itself will be broadcasted on a number of TV networks.

Thompson on Hollywood

Born and raised in Manhattan, Anne Thompson grew up going to the Thalia and The New Yorker and wound up at grad Cinema Studies at NYU. She worked at United Artists and Film Comment before heading west as that magazine's west coast editor. She wrote for the LA Weekly, Sight and Sound, Empire, The New York Times and Entertainment Weekly before serving as West Coast Editor of Premiere. She wrote for The Washington Post, The London Observer, Wired, More, and Vanity Fair, and did staff stints at The Hollywood Reporter and Variety. She eventually took her blog Thompson on Hollywood to Indiewire. She taught film criticism at USC Critical Studies, and continues to host the fall semester of “Sneak Previews” for UCLA Extension.
