Trailer Watch: Rubber Meets the Road in Ron Howard's 'Rush,' Starring Hemsworth and Bruhl as Formula 1 Rivals

The first trailer for Ron Howard's "Rush" has landed. Penned by Peter Morgan ("The Queen"), the film stars Avenger Chris Hemsworth and Daniel Bruhl ("Inglourious Basterds") as '70s Formula 1 racing stars and rivals, Brit playboy James Hunt and and Austrian Niki Lauda.

The first trailer for Ron Howard's "Rush" has landed. Penned by Peter Morgan ("The Queen"), the film stars Avenger Chris Hemsworth and Daniel Bruhl ("Inglourious Basterds") as '70s Formula 1 racing stars and rivals, Brit playboy James Hunt and and Austrian Niki Lauda. 

Both Hemsworth and Bruhl narrate throughout the trailer in character, chronicling Lauda's near-deadly crash, followed by his return to the sport and renewed intense rivalry with Hunt.

The Universal film hits theaters on September 20, in time for the front-end of Oscar season.

Thompson on Hollywood

Born and raised in Manhattan, Anne Thompson grew up going to the Thalia and The New Yorker and wound up at grad Cinema Studies at NYU. She worked at United Artists and Film Comment before heading west as that magazine's west coast editor. She wrote for the LA Weekly, Sight and Sound, Empire, The New York Times and Entertainment Weekly before serving as West Coast Editor of Premiere. She eventually took her blog Thompson on Hollywood to Indiewire. She taught film criticism at USC Critical Studies, and continues to host the fall semester of “Sneak Previews” for UCLA Extension.
