A first trailer has dropped for Western "The Salvation," screening in the Cannes Midnight section, starring the tantalizing duo of Mads Mikkelsen and Eva Green. Watch below.

Helmed by "The Hunt" producer Kristian Levring, the film is set in the 1870s and follows a Danish settler (Mikkelsen) who must put aside his non-violent ways to take revenge on the gang leader who killed his family.

While the spot leaves something to be desired -- that wall-to-wall score isn't too great -- the casting is good enough that we're willing to chalk it up to an awkwardly cut trailer. Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Jonathan Pryce co-star.

Cannes kicks off May 14. Check out the complete lineup here.
