'Samsara' Documentary is Oscilloscope's Highest-Grossing Film Ever

Ron Fricke and Mark Magidson's visually sumptuous 70mm documentary "Samsara" has become Oscilloscope Laboratories' biggest hit since its founding in February 2008. This past weekend, the documentary surpassed O-scope's previous benchmark, 2011's "We Need to Talk about Kevin," which totalled $1.7 million at the domestic box office.

Shot over five years in twenty-five countries on five continents, "Samsara" is the third explorative collaboration between Fricke and Magidson, after "Baraka" and "Chronos." "Samsara" premiered on August 24 in New York and Seattle to the highest per-screen-average of any documentary released in 2012. As of October 14, 2012 "Samsara" has grossed over $1.8 million.

Despite rumors of change at the company in September after the passing of company founder Adam Yauch and the departure of David Fenkel, the studio is moving full steam ahead.
