Submissions of performances for the 20th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards nominations, which will be announced on Wednesday, December 11 2013, are now open. Submissions will close on Thursday, Oct. 24, at 5 p.m. (PST). The award ceremony will be aired live on TNT and TBS on Saturday, January 18. 2014.
The Screen Actors Guild awards go to outstanding performances in motion pictures and primetime television as well as eligible New Media-originated programs which follow the format of traditional series, movies and miniseries. The ensemble award for a cast in a motion picture movies is considered SAG's best picture prize. Last year's winner "Argo" went on to win the Oscar, as did Best Actress Jennifer Lawrence, Best Actor Daniel Day Lewis and Best Supporting Actress Anne Hathaway.
The nominees for 2013 performances are chosen by separate film and television nominating panels, each comprised of over 2,100 randomly selected members from across the country. Nomination ballots will be mailed on Wednesday, Nov. 20 and voting closes on Monday, Dec. 9.
