I woke up this morning humming the jingle for a 50s commercial whose lyrics I still remember. How powerful is that? And I still eat the Kelloggs cereal. Here's the animated musical Rice Crispies commercial:

Funny to note that the animation and the music are way more "appetizing" than the shot of the actual cereal in a bowl. This also strikes me as an example of something that was "hip" in its own time (a jazz arrangement to hawk really beige cereal!) navigating the march of time rather well because it was so well crafted in the first place.I also have a soft spot for the CrackerJacks ditty.

I'll bet this commercial was inspired by the Friz Freleng Warner Bros cartoon Little Little Bops which has maybe the best score ever for a WB catroon. Take a look:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J-_ck7AHKKE
