The cast continues to grow for Wally Pfister's directorial debut, "Transcendence." Morgan Freeman is in final talks to star alongside Johnny Depp, Rebecca Hall, Paul Bettany and Kate Mara. The sci-fi film centers on a scientist (Depp) whose brain is posthumously uploaded to a supercomputer.

After donning an incredible headdress and thick eyeliner in "The Lone Ranger," Johnny Depp is ready to move onto some new projects. First he will star in "Dark Knight" cinematographer Wally Pfister's directorial debut, "Transcendence." Then he plans to shoot "Black Mass," to be directed by Barry Levinson ("Wag the Dog," "Rain Man").

Thus Christopher Nolan and Emma Thomas are backing Wally Pfister--who won the Oscar for "Inception" and just won an AFI Alumnae Award last week. He cited as his idol Franklin Schaffner ("Papillon" and "The Planet of the Apes").
