SXSW announces the lineup for its Midnight and Shorts sections, including Rob Zombie's "Lords of Salem," "V/H/S/2," E. L. Katz's "Cheap Thrills," Vincenzo Natali's "Haunter" and Xan Cassavetes' "Kiss of the Damned." The festival runs March 8-16 in Austin, Texas. The rest of the announced lineup is here.
The Midnight section celebrates genre film: dark, sexy, funny and weird. SXSW's Jarod Neece states:
"This year we scoured the globe and brought back a batch that we knew would truly satisfy the gore hounds of SXSW. Full of scares, sex, madness, laughs, chills and major mind f*cks, we hope there's a little something for everyone.”
The 106 short films were chosen from a pool of 3,597 submissions, and will presented in ten curated programs. Shorts Programmer Claudette Godfrey states:
“It was harder than ever to narrow down our final program, but this year's selections beautifully capture, in a multitude of ways, the essence of existence in this very specific moment."
Check out the lineup below:
