2013 Student Academy Award Winners Announced

The winners have been announced for the 2013 Student Academy Awards. Thirteen students from nine US colleges and universities as well as three students from foreign universities have been selected as winners. Full list below.

Academy to Name Theater in Upcoming Museum of Motion Pictures After Hollywood Billionaire David Geffen

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced today that it has received a $25 million commitment from the David Geffen Foundation. In recognition of the gift, the Academy will name its upcoming Museum of Motion Pictures' premiere-sized theater in honor of Geffen.

Make Way for BFI's 'The Hitchcock 9,' the Master of Suspense's Earliest Surviving Works

Beginning with June screenings presented by the San Francisco Silent Film Festival, the British Film Institute is bringing stateside “The Hitchcock 9,” a national tour of Alfred Hitchcock’s nine earliest surviving works, all in newly restored 35mm prints. According to the Institute, this is the largest restoration project they have ever undertaken.

Academy Participates at Sundance for First Time Ever, Presents Conversation with Producer Will Packer

As part of the Academy Conversations series, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and the Blackhouse Foundation will present a conversation with producer Will Packer ("Think Like a Man," "Takers") at Sundance on January 19. This marks the first time the Academy has participated in one of the festival's programs.

Hedren Talks Devious Hitchcock and 'The Birds' at Academy: "fairytale" Discovery by Reville

Three days after the HBO premiere of "The Girl," Tippi Hedren appeared in person at the Academy for a beautiful digital screening of Alfred Hitchcock's "The Birds."
