Paula Wagner Set to Produce the Academy's 5th Annual Governors Awards

The reign of women at the Academy continues. Academy president Cheryl Boone Isaacs had previously produced the Governors Awards, and now she's selected film, TV and stage producer Paula Wagner (best known for her work on the first three "Mission Impossible" films and other Tom Cruise titles "Vanilla Sky" and "The Last Samurai") to run the 5th annual awards ceremony.

Academy Governors Awards 2013 Go to Angelina Jolie, Angela Lansbury, Steve Martin and Piero Tosi

The 2013 Academy Governors Awards have finally been announced after a day-long delay while executives waited to notify one traveling awardee. The Board of Governors voted on the awards on Tuesday night. The Academy Governors will present on November 16 Honorary Awards to actress Angela Lansbury, writer-actor Steve Martin and Italian costume designer Piero Tosi, and the coveted Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award to a deserving Angelina Jolie.

Wong Kar Wai Is Coming to the Academy with 'The Grandmaster' on July 22

Wong Kar Wai is coming to the Academy. On Monday, July 22, as part of their summer-long celebration of kung fu, the Academy will present an on-stage conversation between Wong and "Mad Men" showrunner Matthew Weiner, followed by an advance screening of "The Grandmaster."

BFI's 'Hitchcock 9,' the Master of Suspense's Earliest Surviving Works, Kicks Off Its Stateside Tour UPDATED

Hitchcock fans rejoice. The BFI has kicked off its stateside national tour of "The Hitchcock 9," a program of Alfred Hitchcock's nine earliest surviving works, all in newly restored 35mm prints. It launches at the Castro Theatre (June 14-16) for the San Francisco Silent Film Festival, and will make its way to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences (June 18), then to LACMA (June 27 - July 13) and BAMcinématek in Brooklyn (June 29 - July 5).

Academy to Name Theater in Upcoming Museum of Motion Pictures After Hollywood Billionaire David Geffen

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced today that it has received a $25 million commitment from the David Geffen Foundation. In recognition of the gift, the Academy will name its upcoming Museum of Motion Pictures' premiere-sized theater in honor of Geffen.
