BAFTA LA Britannias to Honor Day-Lewis with Stanley Kubrick Award

The BAFTA LA 2012 Britannia Awards (November 11) will honor "Lincoln" star Daniel Day-Lewis with the Stanley Kubrick Britannia Award for excellence in film. The pre-selected awards, which this year also honor Daniel Craig, Quentin Tarantino, Trey Parker, Matt Stone and Will Wright, provide a BAFTA Oscar push for certain artists.

Will BAFTA's Trim to Two Voting Rounds Oscarize Awards?

BAFTA announced today a major reworking of its 2013 British Academy Awards votings system. The most radical difference is that there will now be two rounds of polling, as opposed to three.

The  2012 BAFTA nominations are led by "The Artist" (twelve nominations), "Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy" (eleven), "Hugo" (nine), "My Week With Marilyn" (six), "The Help" and "War Horse" (five each), "Drive," "The Iron Lady," "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2" (four each), "Moneyball," "The Descendants," "We Need to Talk About Kevin," and "Senna" (three each) and two nominations each for "Shame," "The Ides of March", "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo," "Bridesmaids" and "The Adventures of Tintin."
