Check out this new clip from Richard Linklater's brilliant "Before Midnight" (May 24), in which long-term partners Celine (Julie Delpy) and Jesse (Ethan Hawke), graced with a few moments alone away from their children, get to discuss their relationship dynamics while strolling through a small town in Greece. San Francisco International Film Festival Complete Lineup Includes Julie Delpy with 'Before Midnight,' 'Invasion of the Body Snatchers,' A2E Lab

The arrival of the annual San Francisco International Film Festival (April 25 -- May 9, 2013) is like finding water in the desert -- and this in a supposedly sophisticated film-going city. At this year's press conference, the usual phrase "we're showing over 200 films from xyz countries" lacked the second quantifying number, but a quick count of the Country Index in the program book yields 50. (By far the largest number -- 68 -- come from the United States, but the lineup is international indeed.)

'Before Midnight' Hits Berlin: Delpy, Hawke and Linklater Press Conference

"Before Midnight" isn’t just a chick flick, it’s a chick field-goal. About half way through the third Ethan Hawke-Julie Delpy love-hate-love fest, I found myself thinking two words: 'Shut up! Stop talking!! Shut the FUCK up!!!'

Linklater, Hawke and Delpy Return to Sony with "Before Midnight'

John Sloss did the right thing. The Cinetic Media chief was pacing the second floor of Zoom in Park City Monday night as his annual Sundance Film Festival party raged around him. He was weighing the offers that had come pouring in for "Before Midnight," the third film in Richard Linklater's trilogy about Celine and Jesse, who first met 18 years ago in "Before Sunrise," and reignited their romance nine years ago in "Before Sunset," which nabbed an Oscar nomination for Adapted Screenplay.

Sundance Review and Roundup: 'Before Midnight'

The magic alchemy originally conjured 18 years ago by director Richard Linklater and two gifted actors--Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy, who could sustain scenes across lengthy uncut takes-- finds its third iteration in "Before Midnight." It's a tour-de-force home run that will play like gangbusters in smart-house theaters all over the world and should mark a major Sundance sale orchestrated by Cinetic Media.

Sundance Dealmaking Heats Up; 'Don Jon's Addiction,' Harvey Lands 'Fruitvale'

In the biggest sale of the fest so far, Sundance newbie Relativity Media is closing a deal to acquire U.S. rights for $4 million, according to sources close to the sale. CAA and WME (who rep Gordon-Levitt and packaged the film) brokered the deal. Relativity committed to a wide release. Companies wanting to make a splash at Sundance often overpay, but clearly Relativity was not the only buyer convinced that this portrait of a sex-addicted bartender (JGL) trying to give up porn for his first love (Scarlett Johannson) was commercial. TWC offered an early bid of $2 million, reports Variety; CBS Films and Lionsgate/Roadside were also in the hunt.
