Who Should Direct Bond 24? Take Our Poll

Now that Sam Mendes has dropped out of directing "Bond 24," who should helm the follow-up to the billion-dollar "Skyfall"? The new MI6 table's been set with M (Ralph Fiennes), Q (Ben Whishaw), and Moneypenny (Naomie Harris), and with no more rites of passage or existential crises to deal with, Daniel Craig's 007 is now fully formed and reporting for duty "with pleasure."

Yet another down weekend: the top ten grossed 37% less than 2012's total, continuing a multi-week trend that is becoming a major problem. Grosses did climb a bit from last week, but the new films -- led by $200 million would-be tentpole "Jack the Giant Slayer" -- had much greater potential. None looks like it will enjoy any sort of sustained run, even if "Jack" slightly exceeded last-minute projections.

Bryan Singer getting kid-friendlier with "Jack the Giant Slayer" isn't as much of a stretch as you might think. He's still dabbling with truth and legend -- literally in this case -- only the fairy tale is more overt.

Critics are divided on Bryan Singer's "Jack the Giant Slayer," starring Nicholas Hoult, Ewan McGregor, Stanley Tucci and Eleanor Tomlinson. Some bluntly call it "pretty dumb" and label it as yet another Hollywood cash-in on the fairytale trend, while others find Singer's direction admirable -- "smart, thrilling and a whole lot of fun."
