Fox Pushes Back Spy Thriller 'Kingsman: The Secret Service' Starring Colin Firth (TRAILER)

One Comic-Con movie that I actually wanted to see has been pushed back from October 24 to February 2015. It's Matthew Vaughn's spy flick "Kingsman: The Secret Service," which to be fair, looks like it might play better in a less competitive time frame.

Screen Talk: from Comic-Con's Sublime 'Interstellar' and 'Guardians of the Galaxy' to James Franco

This week Eric Kohn and I have plenty to chew over. We dig into Comic-Con, parse the promise of Chris Nolan's "Interstellar" --who's the audience, anyway?--and debate Marvel's "Guardians of the Galaxy" as well as offering our picks of the week. I'm in the thrall of Brendan Gleeson, while Kohn argues that James Franco might be a good director after all.

Comic-Con 2014: Why 'The Giver' Is Like 'Tron: Legacy' and 'John Carter'

The Comic-Con footage for "The Giver" looks good once you get past the all-too similar dystopian subject matter. Even though Lois Lowry's book paved the way for all that young adult fiction 21 years ago, can the Weinsteins make audiences want to see it?

Comic-Con 2014: Marvel Hammers Home 'Avengers: Age of Ultron' and 'Ant-Man'

The Marvel strut was in full force Saturday evening in Hall H.They rule the comic-book, superhero genre for movies and demonstrated once again why they also rule the Con. And Marvel didn't disappoint in touting the more ambitious "Age of Ultron" (May 1, 2015) along with the more fantastical and whimsical "Ant-Man" (July 31, 2015), which will star Paul 'Rudd as the incredible shrinking superhero. The contrast is further proof that Marvel will keep mixing it up between dark and light to escalate the danger while using gallows humor as an essential escape valve.

Screen Talk Report from Halls of Comic-Con, 'The Giver' and Other Oscar Possibilities

Every year I approach the trip to Comic-Con in San Diego with equal measures of anticipation and dread. Why? It's huge, crowded, stressful and crammed with the best and worst of pop culture. I talk about it with Indiewire critic Eric Kohn on our weekly podcast, sitting cross-legged on the floor outside Hall H between panels with my laptop, holding my snowball mic.

After a quiet first day at Comic-Con, Hall H was finally rocked by a movie of clear scope and ambition that was not an imitation of other things. Christopher Nolan came to Comic-Con for the first time with fellow Con virgin Matthew McConaughey to show an early trailer for Paramount release "Interstellar" which hits theaters in November.
