London Critics’ Circle Film Awards: 'Amour', Phoenix, Hathaway the big winners; Phoenix's Weird Statement

On a snowy night in the city, in a ceremony held at the Mayfair Hotel, the London Critics' Circle expressed their admiration for Michael Haneke's "Amour" by awarding it three prizes: Film of the Year, Actress of the Year for Emmanuelle Riva and Screenwriter of the Year for Haneke. The victories add a nice head of steam to "Amour"'s awards-season campaign, with Riva in particular getting a boost in the run-up to the BAFTAs and Oscars.

Things I Learned at the Critics Choice Awards

What a week! Thursday morning started early at the Academy with the Oscar nominations and ended late with the Critics Choice Awards, held at a chilly hangar at the Santa Monica Airport. Some 250 broadcast and online pros vote for these awards, and they often match up with the Oscars. With a changed calendar this year, this first broadcast awards show of the Oscar season--days ahead of the Golden Globes--went live on the CW the afternoon of the Oscar nominations, so that was the hot topic of the night.

National Society of Film Critics Goes with 'Amour'

Always the last of the major film critics groups to weigh in, usually after the new year, the National Society of Film Critics has made its picks for 2012, led by much-lauded multiple winner "Amour."

Judd Apatow To Receive 'Critics' Choice Louis XIII Genius Award'

Things are looking up for the 18th annual Critics’ Choice Movie Awards ceremony which airs live at 8:00 PM ET/PT on The CW Network Thursday, January 10. That's because the Broadcast Film Critics Association will award writer-producer-director Judd Apatow the “Critics' Choice Louis XIII Genius Award” that night (named after a cognac) which he will be obliged to accept in person.

'The Master,' 'Amour,' 'Sightseers' Lead London Critics Circle Nominations

Michael Haneke's "Amour" and Paul Thomas Anderson's "The Master" led the London Critics' Circle Award nominations. Each film earned seven nods apiece. Ben Wheatley's "Sightseers" also nabbed an impressive four nominations, including Breakthrough British Filmmaker and Best British Actress and British Actor. Full list below.

PTA's 'Master' Leads Chicago Film Critics Nominations, UPDATED: Houston and Indiana Critics Nominations

UPDATE: The Indiana Film Journalists Association and the Houston Film Critics Circle have announced their nominations, with "The Master" again making a strong showing with nine nominations in Indiana, and six nods in Houston. "Lincoln" earned the most nominations in Houston, with eight nods. Full lists below.

'Lincoln' Leads Critics' Choice Movie Awards Nominations with Record 13: UPDATED ANALYSIS

The Broadcast Film Critics Association nominations for the 18th annual Critics' Choice Movie Awards are led by Steven Spielberg's "Lincoln" with a record-setting 13 nominations, including Best Picture, Director, Actor (Daniel Day-Lewis), Supporting Actress (Sally Field) and Supporting Actor (Tommy Lee Jones). British Independent Film Awards: 'Broken' Takes Best Film, 'Berberian Sound Studio' and 'The Imposter' Big Winners

At the 15th British Independent Film Awards, the big winners of the night were "Berberian Sound Studio" with four awards, including Best Director for Peter Strickland and Best Actor for Toby Jones, and Bart Layton's phenomenal "The Imposter," which took home prizes for Best British Documentary and the Douglas Hickox Award for Best British Debut. With prizes selected by a jury, there was a fairly even distribution amongst the main contenders.

LA Film Critics Awards Led by 'Amour' and 'The Master'

As predicted, on Sunday the Los Angeles Film Critics Association rewarded many indie films that had been under-appreciated by other groups so far. They awarded Best Film and Actress to Michael Haneke's "Amour," which had clocked several key foreign film wins thus far. Emmanuelle Riva shared the actress prize with Jennifer Lawrence of "Silver Linings Playbook," which was runner-up for Best Screenplay.
