Disney and Jerry Bruckheimer Part Ways After Almost Two Decades

Disney and Jerry Bruckheimer have opted to not to renew their first-look deal, which will expire next year. The Disney-Bruckheimer relationship goes back to the 1990s, and marks one of the most successful Hollywood partnerships of the last two decades.

Miyazaki's 'The Wind Rises' Gets Stateside Release Date from Disney, Plus Awards Qualifying Plans

Disney and Studio Ghibli have released plans for the stateside release and awards qualification engagement for Hayao Miyazaki's latest (and, according to his retirement plans, his last) film, "The Wind Rises." The film is slated for a limited release in the US on February 21, 2014, and will expand on February 28.

In the Works: Documentary on Disney's Imagineers (TRAILER)

Disney has a documentary in the works that will go behind the scenes and into the history of its Imagineers, the division tasked with designing the studio's theme parks and rides. Lesley Iwerks, the granddaughter of Mickey Mouse co-creator Ub Iwerks, is set to direct. Check out the trailer for the film, introduced at last weekend's D23 expo, below.

Harvey Weinstein and Disney Bury the Hatchet, Team for Live-Action Adaptation of 'Artemis Fowl'

Never say never. Harvey Weinstein, who in 2005 left Disney and his Miramax Films following intense disagreements with chief exec Michael Eisner, is now on board for an adaptation of "Artemis Fowl" for the Mouse House. Weinstein, but not the Weinstein Company, is set to produce.

In the Works: Why Bruckheimer Wanted 'Kon-Tiki' Directing Duo for 'Pirates of the Caribbean 5'

The directing team of Norway's Oscar-nominated high-seas adventure film "Kon-Tiki," Joachim Ronning and Espen Sandberg, have landed the helming gig on Disney's "Pirates of the Caribbean 5." The Jerry Bruckheimer production is set for a late 2013 or January 2014 start.
