Review: Prieto Remakes Refn's 'Pusher'

Luis Prieto’s remake of "Pusher" is of interest because Nicolas Winding Refn's original offers such promising source material. But even with Refn's blessing, Prieto makes plenty of his own mistakes, delivering a stylish but perfunctory copy of his predecessor.

'I Declare War,' 'Vanishing Waves,' and 'Here Comes the Devil' Win at 2012 Fantastic Fest

Kristina Bouzyte's "Vanishing Waves" cleaned up at Fantastic Fest, winning Best Picture, Best Director, Best Screenplay, while Jurga Jutaite won the Best Actress award for her performance in the Lithuanian director's film. Robert Wilson and Jason Lapeyre's "I Declare War" won the Audience Award at the Fest and "Here Comes the Devil" was awarded Best Picture in the Horror Feature Category.

Tribeca Film Acquires Goya Winner and Fantastic Fest Entry 'No Rest for the Wicked'

Tribeca Film has picked up North American rights to the Spanish noir "No Rest for the Wicked," which won six 2012 Goya Awards (Spain's equivalent to the Oscars), including Best Film. The film is currently playing at Fantastic Fest.

Fantastic Fest Announces Final Wave of Genre Goodie Programming

The final wave of programming for Austin's Fantastic Fest (September 20-27) is now live. Included in the lineup, which mixes new films with repertory selections, are Brandon Cronenberg's "Antiviral," Ted Kotcheff's 1971 Palme d'or nominee "Wake in Fright," Luis Prieto's remake of Nicolas Winding Refn's "Pusher" and the world premiere of Marcus Dunstan's "The Collection."
