Gotham Awards Go to Coens, McConaughey, Larson, and Coogler, '12 Years a Slave' Gets Zip, Daniels Fights Back

The Independent Feature Project's Gotham Awards are truly New York indie, just as Film Independent's Indie Spirits are very Los Angeles. Thus Monday night's awards benefited feature winner "Inside Llewyn Davis," a portrait of the 60s New York folk scene from New York's own Coen brothers, "Fruitvale Station," which won best rising director and artist for Ryan Coogler and Michael B. Jordan, respectively, and actor winners Brie Larson ("Short Term 12") and Matthew McConaughey ("Dallas Buyers Club").

2013 Gotham Nominations, Led by '12 Years a Slave,' 'Inside Llewyn Davis' and 'Upstream Color,' Boost Spirit and Oscar Hopefuls

Steve McQueen's slavery drama "12 Years a Slave" is leading this year's Gotham Awards with three nominations, for Best Feature, Actor (Chiwetel Ejiofor) and Breakthrough Actor (Lupita Nyong'o).

Forest Whitaker to Receive Actor Tribute at 2013 Gotham Awards

The Independent Filmmaker Project (or IFP) has announced it will honor Forest Whitaker with the Actor Tribute at the upcoming Gotham Independent Film Awards, to be held on December 2 in New York City. Whitaker has generated considerable awards buzz this year for his performance as longtime White House butler Cecil Gaines in "Lee Daniels' The Butler."

23rd Annual Gotham Awards Set for December 2; New Competitive Actor and Actress Categories Announced
