James Bond 23: Mendes' Skyfall Starts Shooting, Craig Joined by Finney, Bardem, Fiennes UPDATED

At a press conference in London’s Whitehall district Thursday, director Sam Mendes confirmed the swirls of rumors surrounding Bond 23, from the new title to casting. Matt Mueller was there.

AFM IN THE WORKS: Edgerton, Kidman, Dujardin, Del Toro, Cotillard, Watts, Wright, Wahlberg, Ibsen

Naomi Watts, Robin Wright, James Frecheville (Animal Kingdom) and Xavier Samuel are on board to star in Anne Fontaine's (Coco Before Chanel) The Grandmothers, adapted from the 2003 novella by Nobel Prize-winner Doris Lessing by-- it's getting better--Christopher Hampton (Atonement, Dangerous Liaisons). In the story, two childhood friends/neighbors (Watts, Wright) each fall in love with the other's son, to the disgust of their wives. Sounds bizarre (and a bit like Toronto title The Oranges). AFM News Briefs: Seyfried as Lovelace, Farrell & Rapace's Violent Spree, Lautner Gets Van Sant

- Amanda Seyfried and Peter Sarsgaard are now in talks to star as porn star Linda Lovelace and her pornographer husband, Chuck Traynor, in Lovelace, an adaptation of Eric Danville’s book The Complete Linda Lovelace, from Howl directors Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman. W. Merritt Johnson (TV's In Treatment, Temple Grandin) and Andy Bellin (Trust) wrote the adaptation. After Lovelace and Traynor’s notorious Deep Throat became a porn classic, she left her husband and accused him of forcing her into pornography and prostitution.

Malick Fans, Eat Your Heart Out: Two More Films on the Way, Starring Bale, Blanchett, Gosling, Mara
FilmNation has two hot tickets to bring to the AFM: Topliners Christian Bale and Cate Blanchett are each set to star in two upcoming Terence Malick films. Bale will appear alongside Blanchett, Ryan Gosling, Rooney Mara and Haley Bennett in Lawless, while Knight of Cups will star Bale, Blanchett and Isael Lucas. Both films are in pre-production and news of this is no doubt causing Malick fans to have heart palpitations.

IN THE WORKS: Lionsgate's AFM Slate; Irvine and Firth in Railway Man; Corey Stoll's Next Move

Lionsgate is busy, handling several new projects at the AFM. There's Murder of a Cat, from producer Sam Raimi and his director wife, Gillian Greene Raimi. The dark comedy is about a man who discovers his recently murdered cat had a double life with a mysterious young woman. There are echoes Martin McDonagh's The Lieutenant of Inishmore, but with the suggestion of romance. Jay Baruchel, Dianne Wiest, Alison Pill, Rob Lowe and JK Simmons will star.

CASTING WATCH: Hooper's Les Miserables Adds Redmayne to All Star Cast of Jackman, Crowe, Hathaway

Tom Hooper's The King's Speech follow-up, the screen adaptation of the global hit musical Les Miserables, just added Eddie Redmayne (My Week With Marilyn, The Good Shepherd) to its all-star cast. As Marius, Redmayne will join Hugh Jackman (Jean Valjean), Russell Crowe (Inspector Javert) and Anna Hathaway (Fantine).

CASTING WATCH: Wilde, Buscemi & Gandolfini Join Carell & Carrey; Goodman Joins Coen's Inside Llewyn

- James Gandolfini is in talks to join Steve Carell and Jim Carrey in Burt Wonderstone. Carell plays a burned out magician, Carrey plays his flashier rival, and Gandofini will play the owner of the Las Vegas casino where Carell works. 30 Rock's Don Scardino is directing from a script rewritten by Jason Reitman. UPDATE: Olivia Wilde has won the female lead (Carell's love interest), and Steve Buscemi (Wonderstone's friend and partner) is on board as well.
