IN THE WORKS: Biopic Lovelace Starts Production in L.A., Adds Cast; Seyfried and Sarsgaard Star

As "Lovelace" started filming in Los Angeles Tuesday, directors Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman announced their full cast on the official biopic, starring Amanda Seyfried as "Deep Throat" porn star Linda Lovelace and Peter Sarsgaard as Lovelace's husband Chuck Traynor.

Relativity Starts Production on First Chinese Joint Venture: Comedy 21 and Over

Relativity Media's landmark alliance with China's Huaxia Film Distribution Company could make all the difference for the company's success going forward. That is if they make the right movies. Low-budget comedy 21 and Over is the first of many projects that Relativity plans to shoot and co-finance in partnership with Sky Land, their new production and distribution entity run by Relativity, SAIF Partners and IDG China Media.

Pervert's Guide to Cinema's Fiennes and Zizek Reteam for Pervert's Guide to Ideology

Sophie Fiennes has wrapped shooting The Pervert’s Guide to Ideology, her new feature documentary collaboration with philosopher Slavoj Zizek, who has been called both “the closest thing philosophy has to a superstar” and “the undisputed spritz master of cinema studies.” The pair worked together on The Pervert’s Guide to Cinema (2006), which Variety called "a virtuoso marriage of image and thought."

Mike Newell's Great Expectations Shoots October 10 with Bonham Carter, Fiennes, Irvine, Grainger

Brit director Mike Newell, whose big-budget studio entries Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and Prince of Persia are a far cry from earlier works such as Four Weddings and Funeral and Enchanted April, will begin shooting David Nicholls' adaptation of Charles Dickens' Great Expectations in the UK on October 10.

Joe Wright's Anna Karenina Begins Shooting for Working Title: Knightley Leads Strong Cast

Joe Wright has begun shooting his adaptation of Leo Tolstoy's beloved classic, Anna Karenina. Shooting in the UK and Russia with a script adapted by Tom Stoppard, the film stars Keira Knightley, Jude Law, Aaron Johnson, Kelly Macdonald, Matthew Macfadyyen, Domhnall Gleeson, Alicia Vikander, Emily Watson, Olivia Williams and Ruth Wilson. Working Title's Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner are producing alongside Paul Webster (they successfully collaborated on Wright's Pride & Prejudice and Atonement). Wright is also bringing back his cinematographer Seamus McGarvey, costume designer Jacqueline Durran and production designer Sarah Greenwood. One thing is for sure: The film is going to look amazing. Jane Eyre editor Melanie Ann Oliver is also joining Wright's team.

Blumberg Sex Addiction Dramedy Thank You for Sharing: Cast includes Paltrow, Pink, Ruffalo, Robbins

Writer-director Stuart Blumberg's (co-writer of The Kids are All Right; pictured top left) will bring his Thanks for Sharing to life with Mark Ruffalo, Tim Robbins, Gwyneth Paltrow, Patrick Fugit, Joely Richardson, Josh Gad and the newest cast member, Alecia Moore (a.k.a. Pink). The film is currently shooting in New York City, and follows a group of "unlikely friends brought together through their shared determination to recover from sex addiction and forge meaningful relationships for the first time in their lives."

In our interview with Michael Shannon he mentioned a possible cameo in Jeff Nichols' MUD, the third feature from the writer-director, whose first two films, Shotgun Stories and Take Shelter, star Shannon. The Hunger Games Wraps First Installment; Months of Promoting Will Ensue Prior to March 2012 Release

That was fast. Lionsgate's The Hunger Games has wrapped 84 days of principal photography on the first installment of the intended series. Lionsgate's Joe Drake says: "What I observed on set was impressive on every level, and reinforced my confidence that we have assembled precisely the right team to bring Suzanne Collins’ brilliant novel to the big screen." The film won't feed its hungry teen fans until March 23, 2012. But plenty of first-look fodder (with more to come) are serving as catnip for what looks to be the next young adult female Twilight replacement franchise.
