IN THE WORKS: Darabont's 'L.A. Noir' at TNT; AMC Moving Ahead with 'Goodfellas' Prequel Series

Frank Darabont, writer-director of "The Shawshank Redemption" and "The Green Mile," as well as AMC's "The Walking Dead" (from which he got fired), is putting together another TV series (and one that will compete with AMC, no less). John Bunton's "L.A. Noir: The Struggle For The Soul Of America's Most Seductive City," is the inspiration for the series, for which he'll write and direct the pilot for TNT. The show will be set in the 1940s and 50s, and will follow the clash between corrupt law enforcement and mobster Mickey Cohen's gang.

Coens' 'Inside Llewyn Davis' Gets Hedlund; Watch Him Sing

Garrett Hedlund ("TRON: Legacy") has joined the Coen brothers' "Inside Llewyn Davis," adding to an already stellar cast of Carey Mulligan, Oscar Isaac, John Goodman and Justin Timberlake. Like Mulligan and Timberlake, Hedlund can sing (he was probably the best part of "Country Strong" - see below). "Inside Llewyn Davis" is about the 1960s Greenwich village folk music scene. Isaac played Mulligan's husband in this year's "Drive," and now plays real life folk singer Dave Van Ronk. Shooting is set to kick off this February in New York City.

HBO Debuts Gervais & Merchant's 'Life's Too Short'; Warwick Davis Stars as Fictionalized Version of Himself

HBO's "Life's Too Short" will debut 10:30pm, February 19. The faux documentary, from "The Office" creators Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, stars Warwick Davis ("Willow," "Harry Potter") as a fictional version of himself (he helped to create the series): A has-been little person trying to make his way back to the spotlight. He runs a talent agency ("Dwarves for Hire"), serves as vice chairman of a small peoples' society and gets advice from Gervais and Merchant (playing themselves). Stars, from Johnny Depp to Steve Carell, will cameo in each episode.
