'The Giver,' Starring Meryl Streep and Jeff Bridges, Heads Into Production

The Weinstein Company has announced that principal photography on the big-screen adaptation of Lois Lowry's 1994 dystopian YA classic and Newberry Medal winner "The Giver" heads underway on October 7. The film stars quite the cast: Meryl Streep, Jeff Bridges, Brenton Thwaites ("Maleficent"), Alexander Skarsgard, Katie Holmes, Cameron Monaghan ("Vampire Academy") and Taylor Swift.

Sony and Megan Ellison's Annapurna are partnering on a presumably R-rated comedy from co-writers Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg (who together wrote and directed this summer's sleeper apocalyptic raunchfest "This Is the End"), Kyle Hunter and Ariel Shaffir. This decidedly not-for-kids animated film will be titled "Sausage Party," and has Conrad Vernon ("Shrek 2") on board to direct.
