Film Independent Spirit Awards: Complete List of Winners

As expected, "The Artist" dominated Saturday's Independent Spirit Awards, winning four awards for best feature, director, actor and cinematography. The drama was getting "The Artist" creative team via police escort to the event from a delayed flight from Paris, where the film won six Cesars.

Producer Stephanie Allain to Helm Los Angeles Film Festival

Golden Globes Weekend Preview: Critics Choice, AFI, BAFTA Rising Stars, Parties

It's a busy awards weekend in Hollywood. It all starts off with Thursday night's Critics Choice Movie Awards, which happens to air live on VH1 the night before Oscar ballots are due--at 5 PM Friday. Last year the CCMA chose 18 Oscar winners out of its 20 awards. (My winners' predictions here do not reflect my actual votes.)

Indie Spirit Nominee 'Without' Team Talk Micro-Budget Filmmaking, Distribution

Writer-director Mark Jackson is up for the “Someone to Watch” award at the Indie Spirits, to be held in Santa Monica on February 25, for his micro-budget "Without." The film is a quiet character study featuring a daring performance by the newcomer, Joslyn Jensen.

Film Independent Spirit Awards' Jameson Grant: Accepting Submissions for Find Your Audience Award

Film Independent's Spirit Awards is now accepting submissions for the Jameson FIND Your Audience Award, one of four filmmaker grants. The Jameson grant, in its second year and funded by Jameson Irish Whiskey, is designed to help build an audience for a feature length narrative or documentary filmmaker. In addition to the $40,000 grant, the winner will be featured at the Independent Spirit Awards on February 25 and will receive ongoing consultation from FIND. Jeff Malmberg's excellent documentary Marwencol was last year's winner.
