'12 Years a Slave' took home five awards, not only for best feature, but director Steve McQueen, supporting actress Lupita Nyong'o, cinematography Sean Bobbitt and screenplay John Ridley.

Indie Spirit Nominated 'After Tiller' Is an Observant, Even-Handed Portrait of the Country's Remaining Third-Trimester Abortion Doctors

Indie Spirit Nominated 'Crystal Fairy': Michael Cera and Gabby Hoffmann Take a Psychoactive Voyage

"Crystal Fairy," which recently scored Indie Spirit nominations for the John Cassavettes Award and Best Female Lead (Gaby Hoffmann), was written and filmed while director Sebastian Silva and Michael Cera were in Chile waiting for production of their film "Magic Magic" to continue. Andy Samberg's Tasteful Indie Spirit Awards Monologue, 'Bad Lip Reading,' 'Beast It' and Skype Audition Sketches [Video]

Andy Samberg got it right. The SNL alum hosted Saturday night's Independent Spirit Awards, the penultimate show before Sunday's Oscars, and he led the evening with perfectly goofy candor. Everyone played along and the audience reaction shots were actually a pleasure to watch -- a contrast to Sunday night's Oscars.
