IDA Documentary Awards Honor 'The Square,' 'Armstrong Lie' Director Alex Gibney, Laura Poitras and More

The International Documentary Association unveiled their 2013 IDA Documentary Award winners at a ceremony Friday evening in Los Angeles. Top honors went to Jehane Noujaim's Egyptian revolution doc "The Square" for Best Feature, set to premiere on Netflix in January and currently sitting on the 2014 documentary Oscar shortlist.

International Documentary Association to Honor Alex Gibney, Laura Poitras and Geralyn Dreyfous

The International Documentary Association today announced that it will honor filmmaker Alex Gibney with its 2013 Career Achievement Award, its Amicus Award to producer Geralyn Dreyfous, and its Courage Under Fire award to filmmaker Laura Poitras, who broke the story of NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden.

IDA Documentary Awards Top Honors to 'Searching for Sugar Man'; 'On Death Row,' 'Saving Face' Also Win

The International Documentary Association announced its 2012 IDA Documentary Awards this evening at a ceremony at the Director's Guild, with Swedish music documentarian Malik Bendjelloul's five-year labor of love "Searching for Sugar Man" taking home the Best Feature prize, as well as Best Music. Werner Herzog's brilliant "On Death Row," a multi-episode extension of last year's "Into the Abyss," took home the Best Limited Series award. Full list below.
