WATCH: Car Chase Supercut for Launch of UK's Dedicated James Bond Channel [VIDEO]

Sky Movies 007 launches in the UK on October 5th, yet another part of the ongoing James Bond 50th Anniversary celebration, from the box set to the latest Bond flick, "Skyfall."  The Bond channel's video promo (below) is a free-wheeling supercut of Bond car chases, including each of the six Bonds: Sean Connery, Roger Moore, George Lazenby, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan and the current Daniel Craig.  As the trailer puts it -- in simple shaken-not-stirred Bond style -- "All the Bonds, all in one place."  In honor of the half-century of Bonds, the channel will premiere with the first-ever Bond film, 1962's "Dr. No."

Daniel Craig is nothing if not a dapper James Bond. Immersed in Movies: Deciphering the 'Skyfall' Teaser Trailer

Like everyone else, I've been trying to make sense of the "Skyfall" teaser trailer that went live today (it will play in front of "Men in Black 3" on Friday). It appears to tell us everything and nothing about James Bond's 23rd adventure and Daniel Craig's third outing as the most fallible 007...

WATCH: Sam Mendes' Ho-hum Videoblog Debuts on 007 'Skyfall' Website

Sam Mendes' first videoblog debuted with more of a whimper than a bang (or more of a stir than a shake if you prefer) at 7:00 AM GMT on the official "Skyfall" website. At one minute and thirty seconds, the videoblog is probably not what diehard Bond fans have been waiting for.

Mendes Casts Whishaw as Bond Gadget-Meister Q in Skyfall

Clearly, director Sam Mendes is seeking to update the Bond franchise and pull in some younger viewers. While Daniel Craig and Judi Dench are returning as agent 007 and his boss, M, respectively, John Cleese will not come back as Q. That role will go to a younger-generation gadget-master to be played by Ben Whishaw, 31, a terrific actor who shined as Freddy Lyon in the Brit TV series "The Hour," Ariel in Julie Taymor's "The Tempest," one of several incarnations of Bob Dylan in Todd Haynes' "I'm Not There," and Jane Campion's "Bright Star," among other films. He co-starred with Craig in "Layer Cake" as well, and stars opposite Tom Hanks in the upcoming "Cloud Atlas."
