Casting Watch: Franco, Bridges, McAdams, Cotillard and More Lined Up for Animated 'The Little Prince'

James Franco, Rachel McAdams, Jeff Bridges, Marion Cotillard, Benicio Del Toro and Paul Giamatti are all on board as voice actors for an animated feature version of Antoine de Saint-Exupery's 1943 classic novella "The Little Prince." Mark Osborne ("Kung Fu Panda") is set to helm.

Academy Celebrates 40th Last Picture Show Anniversary with Restored Definitive Director's Cut

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences celebrates the 40th anniversary of The Last Picture Show with a digitally restored "Definitive Director’s Cut" on Thursday, November 17, at 7:30 p.m. at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater. After the screening the Academy is hosting a cast and crew reunion including director (and indieWIRE blogger) Peter Bogdanovich, his one-time romantic muse Cybill Shepherd and Cloris Leachman. Sadly, Ben Johnson as well as Bogdanovich's ex-wife, the film's production designer Polly Platt, are no longer with us. And where are Jeff Bridges, Timothy Bottoms and Ellen Burstyn?

It's one thing for Ridley Scott to revisit Blade Runner from the ground up--he hasn't even started a script yet. Even if Scott didn't write the original Philip K. Dick story or the brilliant script by David Peoples (who also wrote Clint Eastwood's Unforgiven), his vision is all over that movie. I can't wait to see what he does with it.

Little Miss Sunshine directors Valerie Faris and Jonathan Dayton's He Loves Me has been picked up by Fox Searchlight. Real life couple Zoe Kazan and Sunshine's Paul Dano will star: Crazy Heart star Jeff Bridges is being wooed to join them. Kazan also wrote the script. Here are more project details and the synopsis. Director Watch: Jackson on The Hobbit's 48 FPS, Cooper's Out of the Furnace, Jones Eyes Wolverine

- Crazy Heart writer-producer-director Scott Cooper (pictured in Vanity Fair with his film's Oscar-winning star, Jeff Bridges) will write and direct Out of the Furnace for Relativity. The film will be based on Brad Ingelsby's script, The Low Dweller, in which an ex-con -- just out of prison -- seeks revenge for his brother's death. Relativity production president Tucker Tooley states: "Scott Cooper drew raw emotion from the story and inspired amazing performances from his actors in Crazy Heart. We are excited for him to shepherd this project." Relativity will share producing credits with Appian Way and Scott Free with Energy Entertainment.

In Development: Julianne Moore and Jeff Bridges For Seventh Son; Pablo Ferro's "Genius" Titles

Julianne Moore and Jeff Bridges are pairing up for Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures's exorcist flick The Seventh Son. The project started out as an adaptation of Joseph Delaney's young adult trilogy, The Last Apprentice. The story takes place in the 1700s, about a young man training to be an exorcists who is tricked to use his abilities to unleash Mother Malkin (Moore), the most evil witch in the world. The young man's exorcist teacher is Master Gregory ("Spooks"), to be played by Bridges. Roles were offered to Alex Pettyfer and Jennifer Lawrence, but both are out--Lawrence's schedule just became dominated by her own franchise, The Hunger Games. Sergei Bodrov (Mongel) is directing The Seventh Son from Max Borenstein's screenplay. Production kicks off September in Vancouver.

On Oscar night I started on the red carpet --taking pictures, grabbing video interviews and tweeting madly--and then repaired to the interview room to listen to the show and backstage Q and As (transcripts here). After the best picture winners for The King's Speech had wrapped up, I walked over to the Governor's Ball just as Nicole Kidman and husband Keith Urban were leaving, heading down the escalator; the trio of winning producers, Iain Canning, Emile Sherman and Gareth Unwin, posed for me with their Oscars.
