With David Lean's epic masterpiece "Lawrence of Arabia" celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, the BFI has compiled an unranked list of "10 Desert Films to Try." The finely curated list includes classics like Sergio Leone's "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly," Erich von Stroheim's gold-hungry "Greed" and Nicolas Roeg's dreamy "Walkabout," but also Gus van Sant's underappreciated "Gerry" and Nicholas Ray's less-seen Richard Burton-starrer "Bitter Victory."
