The Dutch are giving the highly contentious texting-in-theaters issue a whole new spin. Shooting began this week for the new thriller "APP," which will be the first film in the world to synchronize a parallel storyline via app content to be accessed while in the movie theater.

Indiewire now has a brand-new app, compatible for both iPhone and Android, which provides one-tap access for film reviews, festival reports, filmmaker interviews, and facility for following the network's dozen plus publications, such as Thompson on Hollywood (our personal fave), Leonard Maltin, Women and Hollywood and The Playlist.

Anything co-starring Jon Hamm and Lena Dunham is bound to have merit, and the same goes for this laugh-out-loud New Yorker iPhone app skit. Hamm plays a talkshow host and Dunham plays Lonny Dolan (or something like that), a celeb with "high degree of difficulty" pants and an upcoming movie called "The Assistant."

IMDB announced today that its hugely successful "Movies & TV" apps for iOS and Android have each been downloaded 20 million times, making the grand total 40 million downloads. Visits to the mobile optimized website have exceeded 150 million per month since the beginning of March 2012.
